Peninsula Campaign 160th: Escalation and Emancipation - Free, Virtual Seminar
Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
Sponsor: Williamsburg Battlefield Association

Free Virtual Seminar:  One hundred and sixty (160) years ago, McClellan devised a plan to capture the Confederate capital in Richmond, VA via the Virginia Peninsula.  It became known as the Peninsula Campaign.  It began at Fort Monroe in the rainy, chilly month of March and ended 5 months later in humid, sultry August back at Fort Monroe.  Next Saturday, July 30, you can learn about this campaign and its impact on the progression and outcome of the war from the comfort of your own home.

The Peninsula Campaign 160th: Escalation and Emancipation is a free, virtual American Civil War seminar hosted by the National Park Service and Civil War Trails.  The seminar is from 9 AM - 12 PM and includes 5 presentations.  The Williamsburg Battlefield Association's historian, Carson O. Hudson, Jr., will present why the Battle of Williamsburg fought May 5, 1862 is often overlooked in histories of the Peninsula Campaign and why it shouldn't be.  For the full list of topics and presenters scheduled for the seminar, please see the attached flyer.

The seminar is free but does require registration at https://forms.office.com/g/NRiq15ubwr.

Hope you will participate!
