Our CWRT Meeting has been changed from May 9 to MAY 10 - 6:30 PM

The meeting will be held in The Center's Auditorium on the ground floor instead of our usual meeting room on the 2nd floor. The Center is located at 540 Belvedere BLVD, Charlottesville.

Gary Gallagher will speak on the "The Grand Review: Citizen-Soldiers and the Meaning of the Civil War". The Grand Review of the Army of the Potomac and William Tecumseh Sherman's armies on May 23-24, 1865, afforded an opportunity for thousands of spectators in the nation's capital to see more than 150,000 U.S. soldiers march down Pennsylvania Avenue. This lecture will examine the background, make-up, and reception of the event, as well some of the conflicting ways it has been interpreted by historians.

NOTE: There will be no pre-meeting dinner at The Hibachi Grill. Due to poor service and difficulty paying the bill, we will no longer be holding our pre-meeting dinner there. We have not found a substitute location yet. Your suggestions are welcome!
