The Appomattox Campaign–Although relatively under-studied and largely forgotten, the campaign was the most decisive of the war. Revisit those battles from Five Forks and the fall of Petersburg, to Sailor’s Creek, finishing with the April 7 battle of Cumberland Church near Farmville. Discover the armies’ movements on a daily basis, the personalities involved and key events.

Civil War Author/Historian Patrick A. Schroeder Patrick is the full-time Historian of Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. He graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Historical Park Administration from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, WV. and has an M.A. in Civil War History from Virginia Tech. His book “Thirty Myths About Lee’s Surrender,” is currently in its twelfth printing.
